Andy Zimmerman is a retired U.S. Navy Senior Chief with 23 years of distinguished service and currently serves as the Assistant Director of Information Technology at Florida State University. Within the NMRA, he holds the role of Standards and Conformance Manager, ensuring adherence to industry-leading model railroading standards. Additionally, he contributes his IT expertise as a volunteer on the NMRA National Web Team, supporting the organization's digital initiatives.
Actively engaged in the model railroading community, Andy serves as President of the NMRA Sunshine Region (SSR), fostering regional engagement and leadership. He is also Vice President for NRail, where he plays a key role in outreach and advocacy for N Scale modular railroading.
With a professional background in advanced electronics and computer systems, Andy brings technical expertise and innovation to the hobby. A lifelong model railroading enthusiast, his passion began at age nine with Lionel trains. Over time, his focus shifted to N Scale, particularly N-TRAK and T-TRAK, due to space constraints during his military career.
Andy is the President of the Big Bend Model Railroad Association (BBMRA) in Tallahassee, Florida, where he actively promotes modular railroading and community involvement.
